Can I get your best housecleaning/ decorating ideas?

Does anybody out there have any housecleaning tips? I'm trying to declutter and figure out how to decorate the house with what we have. What are your best tips? What helps you the most?

I don't know that I am one that should be giving advice on cleaning or decorating, but I would say my best tip would be to try to never go to bed with a messy house. If you take the time to load the dishes, pick up the living room, wipe down the table and countertops, etc. you will be less overwhelmed when you start your day the next day. That helps me at least. Also, put the kiddos to work cleaning the toilet and such. It may not be done well, but at least it (kind of) gets done.

As far as decorating goes, I just say keep it simple. Don't put too much stuff on your walls or shelves. Get rid of stuff and things will look crisp and clean, even if they are not "new."

I'm with Kelly. I hate clutter so if it's something I haven't used in a year, I throw it out or find a new home for it. Now...I have absolutely zero advice on how to keep up on laundry. It is the devil.

You know how I feel about clutter, too. Just don't beat yourself up if your house doesn't look like a model home! Take 15 minutes a day to de-clutter. Set the timer and then stop, but make sure you work quickly and don't dawdle! Take a grocery bag around the house and throw 27 things away. Don't get sidetracked! First thing in the morning, put a load of laundry in the washing machine and then move it to the dryer after lunch. Sometime after Derrick is home, go quickly and put it away. Make sure you organize it into areas of the house, then do one room at a time. I like to put mine and Ryan's in the laundry basket so I can just set it in my room until I can get to it (but you must get to it within 24 hours or it won't get done!) Call your sister-in-law at naptime and you won't even notice how much you have gotten done while enjoying a very enlightening, wonderful conversation!
